Well time surely does fly when you are having fun; Gwen is now 4 months old! Actually I never knew that you could “have fun” during this newborn stage. With my first child it was a blur of sleepless nights, anxiety and tears. Lots and lots of tears everyday for 3 months. This experience with our second child has been a complete turn-around and I’m here to give hope to those who had it tough the first time. Everyone told me the second is so much easier… I didn’t believe them! It has been SO true for us. These first 4 months have been some of the happiest of my life and I’m so grateful to have been able to experience this newborn stage without the anxiety and tears. With your second child, that overwhelming feeling of responsibility you get with your first just isn’t there. You’ve been there before, you know what to expect and you know those hard days will eventually pass. A lot of the time your expectations for amount of sleep you will get, have had the bar set very low from the first child, so you are happily surprised if they end up sleeping more than 2-3 hours at a time. Anything after that is like winning the baby lottery! If you are lucky enough to get a “sleeper” then you pretty much have found yourself a unicorn baby.
Gwen, you have been an absolute charm and I am (mostly) loving each and every day. We are so happy to have your smiley face in our lives!
