At home newborn session, Brisbane City – Natural newborn photos

The house is full: Mum, dad, extended family all the way from the states and grandparents who live in Brisbane.  There is an excitement and nervousness in the air.  People are dressed well but not too dressy.  The apartment is tidy and in order (as much as one can be with a newborn)… this could only mean one thing… a 4 week old baby awaiting their newborn photos.  Arielle has arrived and everyone wants to be a part of the celebration.  Don’t we all love a newborn?  Their smell, their soft skin, their wavy hair, their clear eyes, the way they make you goo and gaa… their sweet smelling poo?  Or is that last one just me?

My newborn sessions are quite relaxed but if you would like a few tips to prepare for your lifestyle newborn session then here are some to consider:

  • Have a couple of your favourite wraps/blankets at hand
  • Dress baby in something simple
  • Dress yourself and partner in whatever you will feel comfortable in
  • If you can manage it, just do a quick tidy up of three rooms (e.g. removing distracting items that you don’t want in the background of your images): the baby room, the living or lounge room and the main bedroom. ( I find it helpful to have a junk room where I can throw everything I don’t need in there.)
  • Fit your favourite cot sheets to the baby’s cot and also some nice sheets to the master bed
  • Feeding baby just before the session can sometimes help to calm them
  • Have a cup of tea and relax

I hope you enjoy Arielle’s beautiful, organic newborn images…

Xxoo Kate.
